Why is clinical research celebrated on May 20?
May 20, 1747 was the day that James Lind, a Scottish naval physician, started what is considered to be the first clinical trial, conducted to compare the effects of several treatments on sailors with scurvy. This date was therefore chosen as the anniversary of clinical research and is celebrated each year.
