Emotions play a role in the functioning of our memory!
The sketchnote below summarizes the beneficial and detrimental effects of emotions and stress on our memory.
To find out more, you can read the text associated with this sketchnote, as well as the book entitled “Mémoire et émotions” [Memory and emotions], which has been drafted by the scientific advisory board of the “Observatoire B2V des Mémoires” (B2V Memory Observatory) in collaboration with a medical writer from our team.
Memory is strongly affected by the extreme emotions related to traumatic events. Subjects may experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which causes them to constantly relive the trauma scene, and prevents them from getting on with their lives. Our scientific communication agency participated in the drafing of a book dedicated to the broader subject of “Mémoire et traumatisme” [Memory and Trauma] as part of its collaboration with the “Observatoire B2V des Mémoires”.
Smaller changes to our daily lives, such as the transition to retirement and the resulting changes in social interactions, can also have a fairly strong impact on memory, as Hélène Amieva, an epidemiologist, told us in an interview conducted by a medical writer from our team for the “Observatoire B2V des Mémoires”.
